Finance Manager

Role Overview
OhmSpace is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Finance Manager to build robust financial systems and drive scalable processes as we grow into a leading space tech company. You’ll lead financial planning, reporting, and compliance, while working closely with the executive team to deliver insights, shape strategy, and support smart, data-driven decisions in a fast-moving environment.
Key responsibilities and tasks
Strategic Financial Planning:
- Build and maintain the company’s business plan and long-range financial model.
- Drive the forecasting process, including rolling updates based on project evolution.
- Lead the annual budgeting process across all cost centres and departments.
- Conduct scenario modelling to support executive and investor decisions.
Financial Control & Reporting:
- Prepare the monthly final report (actuals vs. budget), including variance analysis and commentary.
- Track key financial KPIs, identifying deviations and proposing corrective actions.
- Ensure timely and accurate internal reporting to the leadership team.
Procurement & Invoice Lifecycle:
- Manage the purchase order process: tracking requests, ensuring proper documentation, and verifying supplier terms.
- Oversee invoice validation, matching against POs and deliveries.
- Track payments, support cash flow visibility, and assist in maintaining supplier trust and transparency.
Accounting and Regulatory Interface:
- Serve as the main point of contact with external accountants, payroll providers, and financial consultants.
- Coordinate monthly closings, year-end financial statements, and local compliance obligations.
- Collaborate on audit and reporting requirements, ensuring high documentation standards.
- Ensure that all financial practices and procedures align with internal policies and external regulatory standards, enabling audit readiness.
Public Funding & Grants Support:
- Support, from a financial perspective, applications and reporting for national, EU or international public funding programs.
- Coordinate submission of financial documents and monitor grant compliance in collaboration with internal resources and external advisors.
Mandatory Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in financial control, FP&A, or business planning.
- Proficiency in:
- Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Managing purchase cycles and invoice flows
- Spreadsheet modelling and/or FP&A tools
- Experience in working with external accountants and ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional financial projects with firm external deadlines (e.g., grant reporting, audits, vendor timelines)
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience navigating structured or regulated environments (e.g., public funding, ESA reporting, R&D tax schemes) is a strong plus.
- Background in tech, aerospace, or manufacturing industry.
- Background in startup environments.
- Familiarity with ERP or financial systems.
- Experience with public grants and financial documentation for funding bodies.
- Comfort managing hybrid internal/external finance setups.
- Holding a certification such as ACCA or FCCA is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay range: up to £50,000/year + performance-based bonus
